5th - 12th October 2019
with special guest tutor Alyson Walsh from
Charlotte Bland and Ros Badger will show you how to style and take the perfect lifestyle photograph inspired by visits to some of their favourite places in this special region of Italy.
Alyson Walsh will be teaching online writing for blogs, Instagram and business. Guiding you on the best text to go with your pictures.
Start the day with yoga led by Meredith Gunderson to help inspire your creative practice.
Try it all or feel free to dip in and out and use the time to relax and soak up the Autumnal sun.
Begin the week with an exciting trip to Arezzo’s huge monthly flea market and source props and scour antique shops in this gem of a Tuscan town.
Visit the Aboca Apothecary Museum and be amazed by ancient glass, ceramics and antique botanical prints.
..make your own lip balm there too and then create a unique table setting back at Villa Pia.
See one of Pierro della Francesca’s most famous frescoes The Madonna del Parto and then have pre-dinner drinks in Monterchi’s Piazza.
Eat and photograph at an eccentric Olive farm that has been in the same family for 600 years.
Hand-stitch your own Leather Bound book and use it as a journal during the week or as an album or scrap book.
The photography and styling workshops are aimed at proficient amateur photographers. You will need to bring your own camera and know how to use it whether it’s an SLR, a point and shoot or a phone camera - we’ll be using them all.
Both film and digital cameras are great - Charlotte will be shooting with both - but we don’t have any film developing facilities so film shots will be a post-retreat surprise.
The workshops won’t involve technical camera instruction but Charlotte will happily help and advise on anything that she can.
There will be several photography sessions during the week, however you can do as little or as much as you want.
End the day with conversation and aperitifs.
Make merry with wine and eat delicious home-cooked food on this all inclusive retreat.
See the schedule here.
Villa Pia and the surrounding area is incredibly photogenic, familiar to creatives and art lovers as the backdrop to some of the finest Renaissance art works. You may find you want to take photos all the time but there is no obligation to do this or to take part in all the workshops.
